The Limestone Museum in Korbach highlights and celebrates the region’s rich limestone history, particularly its role during industrialization and its broader impact on the evolution of life on Earth. Direct next to the museum, the famous Procynosuchus, a mammal-like reptile, was discovered a fossil dating back more than 250 million years, marking the pivotal moment when life transitioned from the oceans to the land. The goal of the project was to restore the limestone tower while giving it a new purpose. Over time, the upper floor and roof of the tower had collapsed, so their reconstruction, which mirrors the original design, was essential to preserving the identity and character of the place.
