Stones Water Light

Stones Water Light

The visitor center Stones Water Light at Lake Edersee serves as perspective changer. It provides the local community and visitors with an open cultural space dedicated to restoring the balance between social and ecological climates. Located directly adjacent to the UNESCO Kellerwald-Edersee National Park, the project offers a venue for exploring knowledge about regenerative thinking and action. Stones Water Light connects the central square of the village Edersee with the dam of the lake. The dam holds great significance for the local population’s identity. The design concept is based on a symbolically ‘cut out’ section of the dam, with the tower-like structure mirroring its form and revealing the inner spaces of tunnels and shafts. In the foyer and lower level museum space, an immersive light installation brings the site’s vivid history to life. The outdoor area and ground floor serve as spaces for community and learning.
